I know most people said towing mirrors wouldn't look right on my truck but I am seriously wanting to change my mirrors and figure I should just go ahead and get the ones I want. My major goal for the change is getting heated mirrors, this is an option I didn't realize I relied on as much as I did on previous trucks.

These are the mirrors I'm looking at. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&AddPartNumber=19202235&partnumber=19202235

Does anyone know if they offer a towing mirror that is heated without power adjustment or the turn signals? I'm assuming not but it's worth a shot. Can you still manually adjust them or will I have to go all out and get the whole adjustment switch and everything. I wouldn't mind pulling a wire just for the heat and wiring up a toggle switch for it if that's a possibility but doing the whole shebang sounds like a lot of work.

There are 3 kinds:
-All manual, no electric - GM 19211738
-Elecric with heat, the ones you mentioned
-Electric GM 19243900

I think that's right, if not Rich will come along and slap me upside the head :)

So no manual with heat option, if I get power ones can I still manually adjust them (only have to set them once then leave them alone) or will that jack up the gears? It wouldn't be a big deal if it was just scraping them off when I got in but I always use the heat to keep them dry when driving in snow or rain so I really want the heat back.

It will jack them up, for sure. I saw it happen first hand.

Ian is yours a WT, or an LT?

Reason I ask is you can add the switches, etc to the door panels on the LT

So my next thought would be finding manual mirrors then separately finding glass from a heated mirror and wiring up a switch for it but now it seems to be getting kind of involved. Do you (or Rich if you see this) know a part number for the power mirror control switch and wiring? I can make a place to mount it if it's not too pricey I just really don't need the power part of the mirrors and I'm still a cheap bastard.

Well, unless somebody knows of another mirror in manual with heat, you can always take them apart and add a mirror heat grid. They sell them.

I am not sure if anybody around here has tried it, but I sure as hell would give it a shot. We have replaced the mirror heat grids at work on the big truck mirrors.

I ninja edited while you were posting, I will go in search of the heat grid, ebay has tons of Kool Vue manual towing mirrors for a pretty reasonable price so that might be my best option.
