I believe the knock sensors pull 8* of timing when throwing the code. I ran a 14.75 in the quarter mile with bad knock sensors, and once I replaced them, I was in the 14.1 area.

I can't really comment on fuel economy.

Well to me it makes sense if they are causing power loss they are causing some form of fuel economy issue.

Ok well since the ones I got (I believe) are "gauranteed for life"(or at least gauranteed not even being a year old) I'm replacing them, but with the intake gasket being less then 6 months old safe to reuse?

Even though I feel safe reusing the gasket I like the "better safe then sorry" attitude ,but what say you?:dunno:

The other question I guess is the mechanic went all the way around both knocks with the RTV (which is the way he does it at the GM dealer shop) and in some cases I saw "how tos" say leave a small gap. WTF?:dunno::confused::dunno::confused:

The intake gasket is probably worth taking the chance on. Some would argue that but they use very good rubber in the seals for those things.

I would go all the way around if it was me, sounds like he did it right.

That's what I would think. Even a small gap would allow moisture in.

We'll see. That's what I was thinking. I've seen where others said they reused with no probs and there's were MUCH older then mine. Plus mine is the "problem solver" or modified on from the old design that was causing probs.

As I said better safe then sorry, but if I can save $70 ish on a gasket so be it.
