first thing when i get home imma make an appointment to get the codes checked on a machine. and i actually believe my next oil change is when my fuel filter is due.

The fuel filter is a breeze to change. You may get a little fuel on your hands, but nothing to worry about.

x2 I do mine every 3 oil changes

One of my friend's 2004-5 F150 5.4l had the exact same symptoms when one of the ignition coils went on the blink.

I wanted to say that. My dad's 05 did the same thing when he had a pack go bad. If the fuel filter don't fix it, this may very well be the problem. The only thing is usually when a coilpack goes bad it makes you think the transmission's screwing up too. Or at least that's how it's felt to me the couple of times I've drove and rode in F-150's doing it.

Have you serviced your filter on your CAI lately? It almost sounds like a fouled MAF sensor, usually caused by an over oiled air filter. You can use some non-residue electrical parts cleaner to CAREFULLY clean the MAF sensor and see if that helps.

My CAI is oil free would that make any difference? :dunno:

And what Fuel Filter do you use Jeff? i might pick one up in the morning and change it. clean my air filter, and do ya'll know if i can check my codes without taking it in?

If it is a dry flow air filter, then you shouldn't have a fouled MAF. Usually, it is a result of an over oiled K&N type filter.

Do you have a CEL on? If so, somewhere like Autozone will read it for free and at least give you the code. The codes will at least point you in somewhat the right direction. I broke down and bought my own code reader for $100. Best money I've spent.

If the suggestions already given don't help...have the back pressure checked on the Catalytic Converter.

It will feel more like it's slipping. It's hard to describe, but I've experienced it in my dad's truck, my father in laws truck.

Even if it's not you MAF sensor, it doesn't hurt to clean that bad boy every 10000 or so. You'll be surprised at what cleaning it can do.
