I have a 2007 Fx4 and have minor mods. Roush CAI, Banks Monster exhaust, ATZ 33's leveling kit. They have been on close to a year now. as a few of you may know I went out of town this weekend and when passing a car today i floored it and my truck went to sputtering and exhaust popping. my check engine light came on then went back off after i pulled over a few min. any ideas? The last month or 2 i noticed getting on the ramps to the interstate it would do it but never as bad as today. i always thought it was just backpressure. today it literally wouldn't go any faster :uhoh:

* I have noticed since i got my exhaust it puts out a lot of carbon around the tip. :dunno:

I'd check for correct fuel pressure first. Maybe one of the Ford gurus can elaborate here.

Replaced the fuel filter lately? Where is the filter on your truck? I know GM is in the damn tank.

pull codes, they have to be in the memory even if the light went off.

Have you serviced your filter on your CAI lately? It almost sounds like a fouled MAF sensor, usually caused by an over oiled air filter. You can use some non-residue electrical parts cleaner to CAREFULLY clean the MAF sensor and see if that helps.

The fuel filter is a breeze to change. You may get a little fuel on your hands, but nothing to worry about.
