Hey guys, so my dad has been debating on painting his front and possibly rear GMC logos, and now I've got him talked into PTM'ing the tailgate bezel and handle. I would like to do all the prep (smoothing, priming, etc.) and painting, then at work we refinish wheels, and I would have them use the good clear coat on it.

So where, and from what vendors can I find the GM code WA213M, 16U?
I have found no exact duplicolor match, and according to some research on other forums, I've seen that they have a decent match, but that's not acceptable. I have found it for $25 per can at expresspaint.com, which I've heard good reviews from.

Thanks in advance. Any insight or other ideas are very welcome

I use Automotivetouchup.com for all my rattle can ptm. They have all of it listed by MFG code. The red for my truck was a perfect match, high quality nozzles (even spray, no drips etc). Can be pricey compared to duplicolor, but it is much better paint IMHO...

Surprisingly from the dealership. I once got some GM color matched paint for my 03 right from the dealership. Sold for about twice as much as a regular can, but worked perfectly.

Another question about the adhesion promoter?
I've heard about bulldog, that will be about $14.50 per can
Duplicolor from summit on eBay which is about $11 per can
The automotivetouchup brand, adhesion promoter, which is about $8.50 per can

Any brands to stay away from, or are they all pretty much the same?

I'll have to check the dealer for the paint

I've purchased from automotivetouchup.com, both paint and adhesion promoter. The paint was not a match to OEM but didn't bother me since I was painting interior pieces. The adhesion promoter works...............but if you want the best quality stuff go with Bulldog. My buddy uses it all day everyday at his bodyshop, that says a lot for him to trust his work on that brand alone.

Well thanks for the heads up Ed, I kinda figured I'd just go with the Bulldog. But that's good to know that the paint isn't an exact match, that really would have made me mad:uhoh:

I've used SEM adhesion promotor. So far so good on my bowtie. I got it locally so I'm no help as to where you can find it, but it was almost $20 for a 14oz can.
I was able to find DupliColor paint, but now they've gone to an 8oz can (from an 11oz) and made it the same price as the 11....So I'm going to be looking elsewhere for my paint.

I go to my local Sherwin Williams automotive paint place and have them whip up my color. Unfortunately, I have to buy 6 cans at a time but it's only around $75.
