Well, I finally got a chance to get the Nova in for some dyno tunning time today. I am glad I did.

We have known it was rich on spray, but did not know how rich and how far to safely lean it up to keep from melting things.

We started off making a motor pull to see where the AF ratio was. We did not tune on NA hp at all because I have my timing set for NO2 and have not installed my new ignition system with the timing retard yet. On the motor it made a respectable 444hp. W.O.T. AF ratio was pretty good, but there is a problem we have to figure out at part throttle. It's Oprah Rich.

Next we made sure bottle pressure was up and made a NO2 run. It only made 527 at the wheels. AF ratio was about 8.5:1:eek:

So, we pulled the Nitrous plate and dropped the jet sizes a bit to lean it up. It immediately picked up 70hp It went to 598hp. At that point I ran out of time and had to get back to work for an appointment.

The tuner suggested a few things for me. He wants me to go with a different plug, change my ignition box to the MSD digital 6 I have sitting on the shelf and try shifting it earlier. He said the digital 6 would probably pick it up a 0.1 on the motor alone.

I'm ready to get to the track, because the tune I started with is the same tune I ran the 9.89 with.:naughty:

I have pics and video that I will post later. I have not uploaded them yet.

Well, it's about time you started working on making that thing run decent! :jester:

That's a damn nice result for just a little bit of time on a dyno!

Thanks again guys. It was fun and I honestly care less what the numbers are, I am just happy with the gain. Gaining 70hp at the rear wheels was much more then what I expected.

Here are a few pics and videos from today.

Warm up and motor run. Kinda long

Second nitrous pass. The white smoke is not engine smoke, it's some oil leaking down on the exhaust.

The reason they don't let you stand in the shop while they run the dyno. Yes that is a drive shaft in the wall:lol:
