Son has a 1993 F150, 300 six, auto trans 4x4. When it's cold it starts and runs well. After it warms up it will die and generaly runs like shit. I attempemted a new TPS. WE disconnect the battery and let the codes clear and reconnet. It will run good then start running like crap and die in few minutes, let it cool down it takes a little while. When its hot you can get it started but it takes messing with the gas and pumping the crap out of it until it clears and it will run ok and then it starts over and dies.
I am think the EGR but he does not have much money to toss at it.....basicly I will be paying for my 25 year old to get his truck running (
) I have told him to save etc and he has good job but he lets his GF suck away all his cash..........anyhow......
I can mess with the EGR and get it to run ok and clear up and then it goes to shit again. I have no idea how to pull the codes from this thing, can I rent a diagnostic tool for it to get the codes? Where the hell is the connector?
I am going to hopfully get some answers or ideas here.
Truck has 210,000 miles. The engine runs (when it running) very well. The exhaust is very, very, very hot and I think the cat or cats (has what looks like cat right out of the exhaust manifold down pipes) because it sounds like vacume when you get on it and not much exhuast is coming out. I really don't think this is going to make it run like it does though.
Anythinh guys? all comments suggetsions or bombs to blow this fWONking thing up will be apprieciated.
