what did yah paint the bowtie with?

I jut sanded it and then used an adhesion promoter, 5 coats of white and 3 coats of clear - all from Auto Zone, all Duplicolor.

I already had the promoter so all-in-all, this was a $10 mod that was dry and ready overnight.

The only problem I had was that the bow tie is so old that the plastic retaining clips on it snapped right of during removal. I'm going to order a new one and redo it but for now, the 3M adhesive tape I used to mount it is working just fine.

That's funny because 3M adhesive tape has always been your enemy

I used it on mine as well as on both of the bow ties on my dad's Graystone Metallic Tahoe and haven't noticed any issues. It would certainly be more visible on black but maybe you just got a bad can or something.
