Does anyone keep their gun, in their truck? If so what do you do if you need to lock it up? Do you have a vault? Do you keep it in the console or where do you keep it?

I've been keeping mine just in the bottom of my console but I wanna have it holstered on the inside of the console possibly. I need to get a little lock box for it too, so if I can't carry it I can lock it up so nobody can get it if they break into the truck.

What do you guys do?

I just keep it in the console. The ideal sized lock box is easy to take anyways... if someone does break in obviously something of value is inside the box and they will take it and cut it open later.

I do pretty much the same thing. I just keep it in the center console, or sometimes wedged between the driver's seat and the center console. I don't leave it in my truck overnight. But if I go shopping or somehwere, I just leave it in the truck. I have a nice alarm, but its really just a deterrent. Nothing to really STOP a thief from breaking in and taking it. :dunno:

But if you go thru all the trouble of getting a small safe or strongbox for it, you should take the time to bolt the box down. Drill holes in the floor if you have to.

Yeah if I have a lockbox it will be bolted down, I just don't want to be negligent and arm a criminal

I wanted a console vault but they're expensive  But it is protecting your valuables I guess

Was just curious what other guys do

I carried one around under my seat for years. I no longer do that since I am not allowed to have a firearm on my work premises, so now if I carry one, it is on my person.

Yeah I hear ya, It's illegal to store a gun under the seat in SC, unless it's in a lockable storage container

Laws vary by state A LOT on this subject. In Texas, it's really easy to carry a gun in your vehicle legally, but some states act like you are throwing kittens in a blender in front of a group of first graders. Better make sure what is legal there.

I have heard that it is here as well unless you have a concealed carry permit (I do). Same for the console, glove box, or anywhere else not in open sight. I have not been able to find where it says that clearly in the law though.
