7.3 Upgrades

Just opening up the intake and exhaust on a diesel will make a big difference. Then a tune and he will love the new found power.

I agree. I was looking at the 7.3 at one point in time and everyone said do atleast this

friend of mine has an 03 7.3... he has:

4" turbo back into 7" stacks
home made intake (took it off a cat bulldozer i believe )
water- meth injection
5 different tunes (1 being mild, 5 being wild <--- trust me, its wild )

believe me, it is set you back in your seat and/ or roast the tires off kinda power.. blows smoke all day long too if you want it to..

Who or where did he get the tunes from? also what meth/water injection kit is he running?

Hey Carl I talked to a friend of mine who runs a towing business... He will only by the 7.3 in the ford and is now buying dmaxers from 2008 and up...

He still has his 7.3 personal truck... He has a bully dog tune set at 480hp(me thinks at the motor cause he is slow) IF its a toy he recommends no more than 500hp on stock motor and expect annual repairs.

He said that if you want the truck to last no more than a 400hp tune will due. He actually recommends 380 max...

He said that they can get some good use out of the old P'stroke motors if they keep them stock....

And if your friend is sold on propane, get him to change his mind to water/meth. It still get's the power and actually makes your engine run more efficient and cooler. All with a little -40 windshield washer fluid. Snow Performance has lots of water meth options, and with the very low boost pressures on a 7.3 a stage 1 would have more then enough power to deliver.

carl i dont know who/ where he tuned it i know its not just canned tunes though.. im not sure the exact water meth either..

id ask him but i dont see him that often.. sorry bout that..

If he has a 1999 or 2000 he has forged rods good for 500 rwhp. Tony wildman chip, stock intake flows well for the basics and a exhaust straight throw cat and muffler delete.
