Truck Bed Bolts?

My truck Bed bolts are becoming rusty and honestly I hate the look of them. They just have surface rust to them. I have thought about just sanding them off and painting them black to make them blend in. I really wanna get some stainless ones so they will look better and won't have to worry about rust.

So where can I get some bolts to replace them, I didn't see anything in Lowe's or HD.

Thoughts?

well, if you could find out what exactly they were, you could probably find them on line, or a smaller local hardware may have them, I know our hardware has some pretty large stainless stuff

If you go with stainless steel be aware that they can't take the same amount of torque that a carbon steel bolt can. It's real easy to snap one if you over torque it.

I'd remove one and go to a bolt / industrial hardware seller. Regular retailers won't have what you want. Maybe you could get some stainless or possibly galvanized ones.

If not... You could pull half of the bolts off, sand, prime, and paint them. Then do the same to the other half... without ever messing up your bed alignment.

I think that is my only choice really, There are two that have me concerned that they might need to be changed. I'll get some pics up tomorrow to show y'all they are just hideous right now

I'm weird like that, the owner before me had a drop in liner and I think that's where it came from

Trapped moisture between the bed and the liner. Surefire formula for rust.

I agree that would be a good environment

BUT

I've never had any issue and I've had drop in liners since the early 90s in all of my trucks. Not much water ever gets under there and the design allows plenty of space for air flow.

Give Grainger a try. They carry stainless hardware.
