10% Ethanol?

Yeah, you will see a mileage drop. It should only be in the neighborhood of 3% of so. So on our trucks, probably 0.5 mpg or so.

I have burnt a lot of E85 in my Silverado and her Impala. I haven't run much for a year since the gas prices dropped. I historically need about 40 cents lower to break even for E85. Her car needed a little more price difference.

In my little car I make as mush as 5mpg more without the 10% ethenol blend.

F ethanol. Ive filled up before and gotten batches with more than 10%... you can just smell it coming out of my exhaust... a local company here is selling NO ethanol gas now.. ill pay the extra 15 cents a gallon for it.

There is also the issue with long term storage. The ethanol supposedly separates from the fuel and causes all kinds of issues. Once separated it will not mix back in. I'm hearing horror stories from boat owners and wanting an additive to keep it from happening.

My dad was one. That shit is nasty. He would pour twice the normal of that Sta-bil fuel mix in his tank to keep it from happening. It still became a hassle. So he started just filling his tanks up 3/4 of the way and made sure to burn most of it off before storing.

..Then he said f' it and sold his boat.

We have the same mixture here in Texas. When I was in Oklahoma recently, the pumps had decals that said "CONTAINS NO ETHANOL"

The strong petroleum industry lobby in this state advocates using 100% fossil fuels w/o the ethanol blends and I believe most stations have bought into that...and also the fact that even when gas prices were $4 a couple of years ago, the 10% blends weren't discounted enough (high transportation costs from the midwest plants) to offset the declines in fuel economy. Many just decided to pay more for "real" gas than blended gas after that....

Never heard anything about "separation." The problem you'll see with old engines (boats, motorcycles, etc.) is that the Ethanol is actually a far better solvent than regular gasoline. So your first tank of Ethanol will clean out 20 years of shit from your tank, hoses, etc. Imagine trying to run minestrone through your carburetor.

Any engine that I've made the transition from Regular to E10 has been rough for the first tank or so, but eventually straightens itself out.

All I know is I used to get, on average,28mpg at the previous station I went to. It was the only station I went to, 90% of the time. (plus I can grab cheapbeer on my way home)

I went to the Shell station next door because they are now running no ethonol in their fuel. (Actually I went there because the credit card machine atthe usualy spot were down.) After switching to their fuel I saw a 3mpg gain. Some weeks it can reach 5mpg. I know alot is based on driving style, but the 3mpg is now the minimum. If I do switch back, the mpg also go back down to the previous average I calculated.

...and don't say its this nitrogen enrichment BS....

The fuel is a little more and so is the beer, but I think I am getting a better deal out of it.

I'd be willing to admit Ethanol is maybe half of that 3mpg drop you're seeing. And I know I saw a little mpg bump up after switching to a gas station that was on the Top Tier List, which Shell is.

As far as your beer goes . . . you WANT the Ethanol in there

Everywhere around here has 10% ethanol. You used to be able to buy premium with no ethanol but that has 10% now too.

My Blazer doesn't seem to care if it gets 10% ethanol or not... It gets the same mileage no matter what

Shell VPower is the one fuel that Terry Dyson suggests to all his customers to use. It is considered one of the "Top Tier" fuels. Terry did testing of his on with his personal vehicle and noticed a 2mpg increase in fuel economy as well as getting better results from his oil analysis and from customers that run just Shell fuel as well. I would really like to run it but there isn't any Shell stations around me.
