I've already checked that PDF Bubba. According to Wix my filter is the 24805. When you look in the PDF for that number it shows photos on how to change it... except my system looks nothing like the setup in the photos. :dunno:

You can also get an idea of where cabin air filters are here.:)

That's the link Bubba gave up at the top. :)

Sorry I missed that one. Anyway in my link is a second link to find out what Wix filter your truck takes. :)

Yup... 24805 according to that. And when you look that up in the PDF it shows how they go in, but it's a different setup than my truck. I'll grab a photo in a little bit and show you.

Okay, not the best pics in the world but you get the idea...

The duct, when you take out the five screws holding the cover, has no place in it for filters. The a/c evaporator is in there. The heater is in the duct above that, behind the glovebox.

If there's filters then they should be before the heater core (to keep junk out of the core fins) but there's no access that I can see from the inside, and from outside I'd have to remove the wipers, linkage and cowl vent to get in there.

And this looks nothing at all like the pics in the PDF file.

Interesting. There isn't a slot any where you can place the filters in the air flow path?

Nope, not that I can see. Like I said, if you remove the cover from the bottom of that duct you'll find the a/c evaporator, right where the cover goes up diagonally, and it fits tight to the upper duct with a bit of foam around it (open cell gray foam glued in place to seal it - not any kind of filter) and the only logical place for a filter would be ahead of that (and the heater core) in the airflow stream, which would put the filters in the upper duct. But, as you can see in the pic with the glovebox removed, there's no opening there. And there's no opening under the hood (unless I take everything apart to remove the heater core).

If you look at this pic that Bubba took of his you can see it's a completely different setup.

More info... If I go direct to the Wix site and look it up as soon as I choose the 6.5L turbo diesel the screen changes and it removes the entry for the truck type. If I re-enter the truck type it removes the engine entry. WTF? Wix doesn't think that 1999 GMC C3500's came with a 6.5L turbo diesel?

Now, one thing that may have something to do with this is that it's a C3500 cab & chassis (not HD though). I know that makes a difference in some things, like the alternator position being reversed with the a/c compressor, but neither Wix nor Amsoil show a C3500 cab & chassis in their listings. Wix does show a C3500HD cab & chassis, but won't let me keep it selected after choosing the engine.

Looks like just certain models of your truck came special order with cabin filters then. That sucks.

I don't think it was special order, as there's no RPO code for them, and anyplace you look up parts comes up with a filter for them. I think it's just that C&C trucks were built very differently from "standard" trucks... Which makes no sense to me at all. To me, if I'm building pickups and a customer wants one without a bed then I just don't put a bed on it. I may make changes to the rear light harness, and the fuel filler, but inside the cab? No way. And I especially don't see why they'd swap sides between the alternator and the a/c combressor, but they did/do.
