She is the oldest, and the smartest, until it comes time to paying bills.

I don't know her...of course... but this might just be a "TEACHABLE MOMENT" when she gets back from Florida. :dunno:

If she was more careful about paying bills on time... she would have a better credit rating.
By having a better credit rating, she cold buy a car from a "REAL CAR DEALER" ... not from "Bubba's Tote The Note."

In addition to not going thru this kind of a hassle, she would get a much better interest rate on the financing...

Therefore the payment per month would be a lot cheaper.
The total cost of the car... including financing... wouldn't cost near as much.
And she would have a lot more of "HER OWN MONEY" left over to spend on other things.

Like having money to go to Florida without having to use the car payment money. :) :)

Not trying to butt into your business.... just thinking out loud....

She won't listen to me. My youngest daughter on the other hand, has her shit together. Thank God for that.

I understand the not listening part.

Oh well... all you can do is try.
But sometimes it is like beating your head against the wall.

The kids just do not realize the hard (and expensive) lessons that "WE" went thru to learn some of this crap ourselves.

All you can do...is all you can do.

Good luck.

I tried that Jim. I just talked to my wife, and whether or not this is true, I don't know. I guess when she bought the car, about 2 months ago, the dealer told her if she missed a payment, they could shut the car down. Well, she didn't make the payment, and went to FLA with my wife, and car payment money. :dunno:

When the fwonk will kids ever learn responsibility?

I reckon that could be possible with a LOJACK like system... I don't know for sure.

If OnStar can reduce power to the engine and bring a car to a stop... while flashing the lights, honking the horn and locking and unlocking the doors... I don't see why they couldn't disable it remotely. :dunno:

But I don't know that ... FOR SURE.

I bet Scottyboy would know about that.
He really knows alarm systems.

Good luck with it.

There are some car rental companies that have a hidden GPS in the car, and if you go over 10mph "OVER" the speed limit, it reports back to headquarters and when you get back........ you are charged 200 bucks for every time you were speeding.
They call it abuse of the car, and it is in the fine print, in the rental contract, that they can charge you like that.

A lot of stuff is actually "POSSIBLE"... if you want to go to the trouble of just "DOING IT."

Thats a definite possibility. There are aftermarket system that exist that are GPS enabled to kill the starter, lock/unlock doors, etc. My brother's Tahoe had one on it when he bought it. He bought it from one of those car lots who finace just about anybody. So it makes sense that they installed a GPS and starter disable on it so it would make it 10 times easier to Repo it. The first day he brought it to my house to show me, I looked ove his truck and said "whats all these extra wire tapped into your fuse panel?" I traced them and found the unit up in the dash (and then uninstalled it for him :rollin:). If thats whats on your daughter;s car, it can be removed or bypasses, but you'll need some general knowledge about alarms and remote starts to do so. Most likely there is a relay wired up somewhere in the starter circuit (most likely under the dash near the steering column) to interrupt the starter wire. You can verify this by turning the ign to the run position and then jumping the starter wire terminal on the solenoid to the battery or to the positive terminal on the solenoid. If the engine then starts, that theres a starter kill activated somewhere. According to my Alarm installing schematics, the starter wire on a 204 Taurus should be a red wire with a light blue stripe. It will most likely be that color at the solenoid as well. So just disconnect that wire from the solenoid and apply 12v to that terminal for a second and see if it cranks. Let us know what you find out, I'm curious now.

Sorry guys, I forgot about this. I talked to my daughter, who is back from FLA. and she swears she made the payment. I did go out and mess with it again, and I believe it just might be the starter. The place she bought it from is going to fix it for her. Oh, and I was off on what year it is, it's a '99. Thanks for all the input.

Well glad it all worked out. At least she's getting it fixed for free.
