I actually done it on plenty of vehicles, but a 88-98 GM fullsize truck isnt one of them. :dunno: It shouldn't be too hard if you use aftermarket universal lock actuators.

Using lock actuators and an inexpensive keyless entry system is the way to go. Any alarm/stereo shop can do it or sell you the parts.

Actually I can sell you some actuators if you want. I have some lying around. Basic two wire universal aftermarket actuators. I even have relays too. If you want I can wire up the relays for you and label what wire you'll need to connect to what in your truck. (ground, constant 12v, etc.) Only thing I don't have is switches or a keyless entry. If you have or install an alarm that can lock /unlock the doors, you can hook it to the relays to trigger the locks. If you have any wiring skills it shouldn't be too hard. The hardest part will probly be mounting the actuator and getting it positioned correctly so it will get a good push and pull on the lock rod to lock and unlock the door.

Well I can give you just the actuators for like $20 a pair or I'll throw in some relays for $30. If you have a 3 wire momentary rocker switch, that will work perfect to trigger the relays to lock and unlock the doors. Let me go dig the actuators and I'll take a pic of them for you.
