i know the 6.0 is 364 cubic inches.

but what is it other wise, like LS??

is it concidered a small block or big?

for peat sake, why does it like to drink so much compaired to the 350. its not that much bigger cubic " wise.

why did gm put the power range so high on these trucks when most of the time (most) there not even in it during normal driving?

how or why is the 6.2 better than the 6.0 when its only .2 bigger

lol, extra ?'s

what happened to the 350?
whats the deal with the 4.8?
is that to be like ford and there 4.6?
whats the buzz about the 327/ 5.3?

by all means im not complaining any way shape or form

its been a little bit since i played with chevy motors. i still have a couple blocks of the 0010 casting number 350 laying around. those were the cream of the crop back in the day. still got my 396 on the stand.

i miss the days of couple hot and ground wires. fuel line and a belt or 2.

i know the 6.0 is 364 cubic inches. What 6.0 are we talking about? LS2, L76, LY6, LQ4, or LQ9... :D

but what is it other wise, like LS?? Yes it is considered a LS series engine since they are based off of the LS1

is it concidered a small block or big? SB

for peat sake, why does it like to drink so much compaired to the 350. its not that much bigger cubic " wise. I don't think it drinks more than a 350... depends on what vehicle it is in and what it is used for I guess.

why did gm put the power range so high on these trucks when most of the time (most) there not even in it during normal driving? In general the LS series engine likes RPM. You can swap out the cam to give it more grunt in the lower RPM's

how or why is the 6.2 better than the 6.0 when its only .2 bigger It is bigger and depending on what 6.0 you base it off of, the 6.2 has great flowing heads. The 6.2 is also a GEN IV V8 compared to the LS1 LQ engines which are Gen III

lol, extra ?'s

what happened to the 350? old technology
whats the deal with the 4.8? it is the same as the 5.3 but a shorter stroke
is that to be like ford and there 4.6?
whats the buzz about the 327/ 5.3? It is actually 325 ci. it is a good engine for its size.

by all means im not complaining any way shape or form

The 6.0 is a completely different beast than the 350. It it's part of the new GenIII/IV (LS) small block family that debuted in the 97 Vette and 99 fullsize trucks. The old small block design that dated back to the 50s (327,350, etc) were falling down on power and emissions and needed put out to pasture. The 4.8, 5.3 (325 cu in by the way), 6.0, and 6.2 truck engines and 5.7 LS1 and LS6, 6.0L LS2, 6.2L LS3, LS9, and LSA, 5.3L LS4, and 7.0L LS7are all part of this family. As for fuel economy, when the 350 died the trucks were putting out 255hp and 330lb-ft of torque. The direct replacement for it was the 5.3 which is putting out 315hp and 338lb-ft of torque right now. The 6.0 is currently running 367hp and 375lb-ft of torque. Also, the 6.0 is going to be phased out and replaced with the 6.2 from what I've heard. Also, the 4.8 is GM's lower V8 to compete with Ford's 4.6 mod.

Anything 7 liters and under is a small block...

GM does not have a big block in production vehicles anymore :(

I don't think anyone really knows why the 6 was such a pig on fuel... But it was hit or miss...

I know that there's some out there that get 20+ MPG on the highway!

The 6.2 has a better injection system, which is the bulk of the improvements over the 6.0.

The 6.2 won't make its way into the 3/4 to 1 ton segment until they get an iron block version.

As for the stupidly high and car like power band...

Probably makes for better mileage to shut the EPA up when unloaded :dunno:

As of this point and time, I think the only place you can get a 6.0 in a new GM is in the 3/4 ton and larger trucks...
The 1/2 tons go from the 5.3 and jump to the 6.2.

.

why does it have to be an iron block? they could shave so much weight with the aluminum block to help mpg out.

or is it because they know these trucks 2500 or 3500 will be doing some work and the extra weight of them and the load would make the iron block better suited?

6.2 heads won't make any difference. The days of just swapping parts between GM engines for performance gains are long gone. Most modern performance (beyond the cubic inch displacement) comes from the engine control programming.

The days of "big block" and "small block" are long gone.
