How to lower your GMT-800 torsion bar sprung truck cheaply.

I'd suggest just driving it for a bit before ordering anything to see how it shakes out. I don't think you are going to have any issues, based on my experience.

I don't suspect any issues either but you never know. This isn't the correct way to lower a truck. The correct way involves going to the dealership and getting a 2WD in the first place. I mean who in their right mind would want to lower a 4WD truck.

I don't mean to knock anything Matt said as his concerns are valid, I'm just saying I haven't had any problems with mine done the same way.

On a related note though, I do have Bilsteins up front and the travel on them may be a bit different than your stockers, just something to keep in mind.

Shocks are my next hurdle, these have about 50,000 on them and it's time to replace them. They are 4WD shocks and I can't remember what brand. Not Bilsteins though.

I think Matt brings up valid concerns but I agree that you just won't really know without doing a little driving. I think excellent shocks are everything in this plan.

Two things:

First, I assume the process is the same for raising the front...just tighten the T-Bars rather than loosen?

Second, why 8 turns of the T-Bar screw? Is that just a number you pulled out of the air, or does is there some significance to 8 turns?
