Who here would sacrifice a LIFETIME powertrain warranty?

Would you sacrifice a LIFETIME powertrain warranty for a tune?

Aren't lifetime warranties a joke? I heard to stay within warranty you have to follow a strict maintenance schedule directed by the manufacture and all the work must be performed at the correct dealership. So my understanding is every 3 grand you have to overpay for an oil cange, tire rotation fluid checks then every 15 grand you have to overpay for tranny service, coolant service, differential service etc etc etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but...TO HELL WITH THAT LMFAO!

Yup, lifetime and 100k mile warranties are NOT for the consumer. The auto manufacturers expect things to go wrong within this warranty period.

Long story short, these super long "warranties" are really just cheap methods for data collection for their designs. Manufacturers wouldn't have a good idea of what parts were failing on their vehicles after a few years, like when the 3 year/36k mile warranties have expired because consumers don't always bring their vehicles to the dealerships. Thus, as an alternative method to conducting very expensive life-cycle testing someone ingeniously came up with the "100k mile warranty". Not only did this help sell cars (because consumers thought "wow that must be high quality"), but they found that this method saved costs in the long run by providing more accurate data which allowed management to focus their R&D divisions.

^^^ Not rumor read on the internet. I spent a week in Detroit for the SAE World Congress and attended quite a few seminars. The "100k mile warranty" was discussed in detail during the "Accelerated Aging & Test Methods" seminar.

I have 1200 miles on this one, I am surprised I haven't hacked it up yet.

It's in the works. Need to get on Jenna's list for a cable

You can do that by a process know as E-Mail. :D

First, you figure out how to use your E-Mail program...
Then you send an E-Mail to Jenna, telling her you want on the list for a Cable Tune.
She puts you on the list...and when a cable is available...she sends it to you.

Not real difficult and not very time consuming...not counting the time figuring out the whole E-Mail thingy. :D :D

Why isn't this already done?
It's been a week already..................

:dunno: :dunno:
