REAR AXLE 3:73 4:10 need your advices

I sold my silverado this week.
I want to buy a "new" to me (2008 year) but HD with diesel (Europeans prices !). I Do not know which brand now except that GM are very expensive for me...
So, as some know it, I carry a slide-camper (and the next will be heavy) , and I need your advice about rear axle as I understand nothing about it
The best rapport economy/power : 3:73, 4:10 or other ? Thanks for your advices

IMO, if you're going to be hauling/towing heavy loads, I'd go with 4.10's in the rear.

I would echo what Jeff said, I had a 3500 with a 350 and 4.10's and it pulled great. You will sacrifice a bit on economy but when hauling the camper you will be able to get going quicker.

To me it depends on how often you will be carrying your slide-in camper and the engine you are going with. IMO, the 3.73 will be fine if you are only carrying your slide-in camper a handful times a year. The 3.73 is a good combo of towing and economy. The 4.10 rear end is awesome and probably what I would suggest if you are going to be carrying the camper more frequently.

I have the 3.73's in mine and they are "sufficient". If I were to be hauling more weight, I'd go with the 4.10's .

If it is just for the slider I would stick with 3:73 but if you ever wanted to get a trailer that was more than 5000lbs then I would look at 4:10's IMO!

If you are talking about Diesels, there is a very good chance it will have a 6L90 (assuming you go GM). In that case with the power of a Diesel and a 6 speed tranny 3.73's will do more than you want them to.

Since you are coming from a 1500, I think 3.73s paired with a Diesel will make you feel like you are in a Semi compared to your 5.3.

3.73s should be more than enough with the torque of the diesel.
