Cool

I had a set of strobes in the headlights of my old '99 Sierra. More or less used them while I was parked somewhere. Although one time I did have on 'em while I was parked on the street showing my buddy and a cop rolled by and said I better shut those off

If yer a tightwad you can get away with just 1 relay and a cheap 536 flasher.

I had done a number of these on head and tail lights as a group of us were volunteers with Sheriff and fire dept's for natural disasters. Much cheaper than mini lightbars or a decent rotator.

Side story: I had even pulled over a drunk couple that just about ran me off the road in a county I wasn't involved with. I felt safety was more important than a ticket at the time. When they stopped, the couple tried to quickly trade places all while my spotlight had them well illuminated from the back like a bad puppet show. I just asked the driver if he was ill or had been drinking. I never posed as a cop. I just asked them to turn off the car and wait while I "radioed in". This was back when CB channel 9 was still monitored by the Sheriff and cell phones were a dream. A state trooper came out and took them away.

Many months later I get a call to appear in court over the matter and I lived 50 miles away. The drunks were contesting the arrest because a cop didn't actually see them driving. Just before I got there, one of the rear drums got hot and seized the brakes. I called from a parking lot and they sent a trooper to get me. When we arrived, I gave my statement to the attorneys in an informal meeting and they wound up plea bargaining. The troopers took me to lunch then back to my vehicle and even had one of their wreckers tow me right into my driveway - no charge.

While most cops would have given me hell, they took things in the same spirit I did and treated me well. Them were the good 'ole days.

Thats pretty much the way it "SHOULD" work. :D

If that happened today...the way the law and everything else is so screwed up... "YOU" would be the one going to jail and the drunks would get off scot free.

It ain't "RIGHT".. but it is the way it is. :dunno:
