I think I'd replace it to. It looks like a crack is forming on this one.

I think I'd replace it too.

Got a used one coming.
Gearhead Buddy has one off of a parts truck, be here in a short ..

Been in the think tank on how to move the transfer case shifter forward .
Now that the 4L80 trans is longer than the TH 400 was and those adapters between the trans and transfer case took it back even further, shifter is about 3.5 inches from where it was at ..
Puts the stick way back in the cab !
Don't like that location at all, want the shifter in front of the seats and in the middle of the cab ..

Lokar makes a super nice transmission shifter for the 4L80's ..
They make a few different mounts for their trick shifters ..
One that they make is called a case mount ..

That puppy would work really well for the foundation of allowing a strong transfer case shifter mount ..

Lokar cm.jpg

Tried to order just the mount from them ..
In order to attain one I would need to buy the complete shifter package .. And that Bad-Boy is up there $$ ..

Option (B) is to make one ... Ok, lets see what I can do being the Lokar is not within my reach ..

Well .. I did beat it back into shape ..
Buddy came by with one in hand, wasn't made the same as the one that came off the truck ..

Since I did lower the trans/transfer case down in the frame some to net a better driveshaft angle, made up a stand-off for the pivot bracket ..

Seems to be in good alinement with the transmission shift shaft.
It works really well ..
A few spot welds and that job is done ..

On to making the spacer for the trans mount ..
Ordered two SS bolts, they will be here today ..

Going to make the spacer out of aluminum plate ..

If I can't find any could always install them with two screws on whatever i do find ..

Looks better in there without the headrests, I think ??
What do you Boys (And Gals) think about them ?

Speaking of "Gals" have I got a surprise for them when they park it in the passenger seat !

The gig:
The seats came with mechanical tracks ... I found the electric bases for both seats on eBay ..
Driver's side came from a Texas yard, passengers side came from California ..

Didn't have a lot of choices on the options .. Took what was there ..

The ele. base from Ca. has a seat heater switch on it .
The seats I bought didn't have the elements in them ..
Was going to let the heater switch ride, doing nothing ..

Until more eBay shopping turned up a two speed virbator that installs under a bucket seat ..
Kind of wish my seat had that ...

Don't even need a freaking quarter !!

I'm stuck in the middle on the head rests. I think it looks good either way.

Looking good. I would go with head rest. It might be that one time someone might slam into the back and your head will hit the back glass.

Just ordered a slab of aluminum to make the trans mount spacer ..

Still have the driveshaft to shorten, and make up a over the trans case mount plate to move the transfer case shifter a few inches forward ...
Got it in my head on how it will be made, got to run down some metal and get next to a water jet or a plasma cuter ..
Could do the cuts with a fire wench, but lots of grind time would be needed for a clean look ..

Soon to see how this endeavor goes down ??
