Yeah, I think I'm going to skip being a year-one person on this next generation of Silverados. :uhoh:

In essence, it’s just cylinder deactivation technology taken to the theoretical limit of the technology. Why the limit? Because GM’s 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8s will be capable of running on as little as one cylinder.

The effect of which is to turn your big burly V8, into slightly more reasonable V6, a fuel-saving inline 4, a fuel-sipping V-twin, or even just a really big Royal Enfield Bullet (kinda).

I haven't read the article, but the :quote: is enough to make me want to bypass this.

Yep!

The problems GM is still having with the 8 speed transmission, I'm thinking "year one" problems are lingering longer than they used to. :uhoh:

I wouldn't want to have anything to do with it. Sounds like trouble to me.
I buy a V8 because I want V8 power...not some fancy piece of shit that has to rely on a computer to figure out how/what/when to activate cylinders. Wow, did that make any sense?

I really think if I had to buy a 19 model, it would be the new Ram. I'm not in love with either of the GM siblings. Can't call them twins any longer. They have taken them in as big of different directions as I have ever seen. I think this is the first time the sierra and silvy really have been anything other than just cosmetically different.
