Well when I purchased my 02 back in November of 01 I put a Flowmaster 70 series bigblock muffler on it. Well about 6yrs later it rusted out with a hole in the bottom. So I replaced it with another one. Now this one is rattling inside. Seems the insides came loose and now it makes a nice rattle noise. Very annoying. Called Flowmaster and explained everything to them.

Turns out they said that all they can do since it is out of the 3 yr warranty is give me a 5% discount on another muffler. So the search is on for a replacement.

Since I plan on trading in my truck or selling it out right for the most part I don't want to spend another $160 on a muffler. I was looking at Magnaflow but can't seem to find one that is quiet like my 70 series.

I like the price of the Magnaflow, $80 as apposed to $160. Is Borla another route? So many YouTube videos to look at. Hard to decide since most keep their resonator on that come with the new trucks now which mine did not.

I need a 3" in and out and have plenty of room to install that is for sure. The 70 series is a huge muffler.

Suggestions?

I put a Carven on mine and really like the sound. And it's stainless with a 100 year warranty.

Borla is a good product. I don't know how well/long they hold up, but they have a good sound to them. A friend of mine installed one on his Silvy a few years ago and it still sounds good. :dunno: Corsa is another good one, but pretty pricey.

What the heck is a Carven? Something North Korea makes?
Carven Exhaust

This is the one I installed.

Did you just install it after the cat and no other parts. Just cat, muffler and tailpipe? No drone?
All I installed was the muffler. I had to put an extension piece in because the muffler is so much smaller than stock. I don't have any drone from mine on the highway. Driving in town it sounds close to stock but you can definitely hear it when you hit the go pedal.

I had the exact muffler on my '97 big block truck, and it lasted 2 years. I then went with a Flo Pro, and my '05 with the 8.1 got the Flo Pro when I got it. I put 60 thousand on that muffler without issue up in AK, tons of idle time, too, with zero drone. As I recall, it was the MAX muffler
FLO~PRO - MAX

I have full Flo Pro on my diesel, now
