I had the RS9000s on my 05, with a huge slide in camper, and towed a boat. Those shocks were awesome for that job, you could crank the rears to 9, and fronts to 7, when heavily loaded.

I don't even know if they still make them. My ass will not be crawling under the truck to adjust them, though :jester:

5100s are awesome shocks.

It is the first 2500, but the problem is one I've dealt with since my '08..."Rancho" chronically under-valves their shocks, and you end up with wheel hop over small irregularities beacause the shock can't control the wheel. I absolutely expect a stiffer ride, and over all it's amazing how well this rides for a 3/4 ton...but it can be better, and shocks are cheap :)

So, like the ass-end hopping around a lot on a mild washboard? :dunno:

most any thing will hop over a washboard. I'm talking about getting wheel hop after a small bump or two, like an expansion joint on the highway, etc. It sounds super anal and it is, but given the amount of time I spent tuning suspensions on my race car back in the day, I'm rather sensitive to it and it irritates me....especially with an "upgrade" shock. The Bilstiens we SO much better, i wish they hadn't switched providers.

Also, I know there are good Rancho shocks, but the ones GM uses for the Z71 options aren't it. Hence why i always refer to them as "Ranchos" with quotes. :) the 5100s are the way I will be going for sure...not gonna take 2 years this time either :)

I was just curious. I've had bouncing around before on washboards. But, when I was in Glacier National Park, I was going to an area called Polebridge, cruising along about 45, hit some relatively mild washboard, and the ass-end bounced out some (more than I felt it should). Steering into it led to the passenger front wheel going about half off the 'road' which caused other undesirable (but expected) reactions. :uhoh:

My old Denali was MUCH worse on washboards than the Silverado is, but this one seems to go from "ok, this is manageable / slow down a bit" to "wtf just happened!?" pretty quick. :dunno:

We have some R/R tracks here on the highway on a slight turn. Going over them in my Silverado the back wheels like to slide out from the bounce. The stock shocks sucked and the KYB's I put on the truck at 100k seemed to help but not by much. Doubt I will need to change the shocks out before I get rid of the truck, if I did was going to go with the Bilstien's.

The 5100s would help a little with that, I imagine. It would keep the axle under control longer before it got silly.

Yeah, this thing went from "nothin' going on" to "son of a *****!?!?" pretty damn quick. :uhoh:
