Can't be too bad, the interior looks pretty clean and those 3.8s are awesome! Smooth, efficient, nice and torque rich down low, as well reliable and easy to work on. I miss those old school pushrod V6s GM had forever. They were down on power on paper but got out of their own way just fine, got awesome mileage on the highway thanks to their low end torque, and were just getting broken in at 100k.

Until you want to change the serpentine belt, which requires jacking the engine and removing an engine mount.

They made the 3.8 harder to work on than the 3.4 TDOHC?

It can be done without doing that....as long as you have a full vocabulary of curse words, a large box of bandaids and the patience of a saint.

How? the belt intertwines with the engine mount. You either have to remove the engine mount or splice the belt.

I've done it on a 3.8 in a Grand Am. There's only one way to do it that I ever found.
