New gears going in

June 12th I'm dropping my truck off to get the gears swapped. I'll be out of town with my family for a few days, so it should be done when I get back. Going from 3.73 to 4.56.... I think it'll really wake it up! 2004 2500 ccsb 4x4.

I will... The problem I have now is with the cam and shift points I have it's in 1st until 63 mph. 2 to 3 shift is at 105.... It's basically geared to go 200mph and it's a 6500 pound truck... The 4.56 gears should really bring the package together..

What RPM are you turning at that speed? [emoji38]

You're going to be a little harder on tires with the gear swap!

1/2 shift is at 6300...2/3 is 6250...

Magnuson 1900
3 inch pulley 8-9psi boost
Ls9 cam and springs
90mm throttle body and x-link
Id725 injectors
American racing headers 1 7/8 primaries
Gibson dual sport cat back
Airaid intake box
18 inch wheels... 285/60/18 tires
Black bear tune
..... And now the 4.56 gears.
I guess it's a little less than the rpm I listed... I wasn't figuring for the slip in the converter... It actually shifts 1 to 2 at about 58/59 mph.... Still way too much gear for a 6500 pound truck.

4L80 must have a taller 1st gear than the 4L60... I couldn't break 50 MPH with my 1/2 ton with BB tune...

Yea... I'm pretty sure the 4l80 has a taller 1st gear and the 4l60 has a taller overdrive.
