I say go for it. I kinda hesitated about buying my Suburban. I originally wanted a crew cab Silverado 1500. But they didn't start making a CC 1500 until 03, and even 2003s were out of my price range back in 2006 when I was buying a truck. I was paying cash and I didn't want to finance any of it, so I had a set price that I had to stick to, or below. The only CC trucks in my price range had WAY too many miles, were beat to hell and back, or both. So as I was looking, I noticed that there were a lot of Tahoes and Suburbans in my price range. I thought about it for a while, and I concluded that a Suburban is basically an Avalanche with the back of it closed in. So I asked myself how often would I actually use the bed of a pickup. Mostly anything I would haul in a pickup, I can haul in a Suburban, but I just can't haul wet or messy stuff. I can fold the seats down and haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood with the back door closed. I have also tied 16ft boards to the roof rack and hauled them with no issues. Try hauling 16ft boards with a 5ft bed.
And then of top of that, you have three rows of seats and still a ton of cargo space behind the 3rd row, perfect for family road trips. And then you still have the towing capacity of a pickup. I have towed about 8k lbs. with my Suburban and it didn't even break a sweat until I was traveling uphill on the Mississippi River bridge. I can honestly say it, I love my Burban. It has served me well for the last 9+years. And I hope to get many more out of it. :tmc:

If the scout mission comes back thumbs up, DO IT! the GMT800 Z71 is my favorite of the GM SUVs by a long shot. My buddie's 2003 Z71 hoe is still running strong. Not sure on the mileage, but it's his daily rig to this day.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I pretty much feel the same way about trucks. I'm pretty tired of trucks in general.

Sorta cracks me up watching others spend mega-thousands on making a 6000 pound brick "perform".

You two should start a forum called "UnModdedTruckCentral" or something more catchy . . . :jester:
