If the control modules are keeping the electromagnets energized, it might take a little while for the fluid to return to normal after the battery is disconnected.

Right... I will leave it disconnected for an hour or so... plus touching the cable ends together for several seconds to discharge all the capacitors that retain memory.
Then when I hook the battery back up, it "SHOULD" do a complete reboot of the system.
I will do that early in the morning... it is 97 degrees out there right now...

After disconnecting the battery and giving things time to discharge (personally, I'd leave 'em unhooked for several hours), but before you hook things back up, see if the shocks act any differently. With no retained charge and no power source, I would "think" thye should return to more or less normal viscosity/stiffness. :dunno:

Any luck with the battery and shocks this morning?

Did the shocks soften at all with the battery unhooked?

The shocks are stuck at a normal ride height? Not fully compressed or extended?

To me it sounds like the magnetic particles in the fluid have all clumped together and are plugging the fluid passages.

The ride height is normal... not sagging down and not jacked up...

I suppose that is a possibility, about the Magnetic Particles, but I have never heard of one doing that and it would be really odd for both of them to do the same thing at exactly the same time.

I am beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the Automatic Level Control and not the Mag Shocks.
But the back end is not sticking up in the air.

That could be a possibility with the automatic level control. But I think the shocks are the culprit in some manner.

If you were to jack up one corner, check to see if the body lifts before the wheel or if the wheel and body lift at the same time?

Take your checkbook outside and throw it at the car. That always helps. :D

I agree that it is the shocks. To bad you can't get to them to disconnect them from the system. Is there a fuse you can pull? Try that and drive it to see what happens. If the front lock up with the fuse pulled then it might be a safety feature to keep the car level and not bottom out.

I will be doing that first thing in the morning.
Gonna take the back wheels off and check all the linkage to the air ride and if I can get to it... I am going to unplug the electrical connections from the shocks.
