Man that's gonna be a fun build

Noticed on your spreadsheet you had Cerullo seats, consider the new seat upholstery from LMC,I used it on a '77 GMC I had and it worked great. The seat currently resides in my son's '69 Chevy.

Want a little more performance from that 454?Advance the timing 4* more or so,I have my current 454 set at that.On my old '77 I had it advanced 6* more.

I looked for that in the menu on LMC and didn't see it. I'll look around a little bit :)
And thanks for the tips! That engine needs a tune bad, and I'll definitely try advancing the timing.

The more I think about it the more I'm tempted to swap the Quadrajet over to a TBI setup from a newer 454

I used 38-2290LL
Truck Parts and Truck Accessories.

I was having trouble with my 454 too, carb was all messed up so I bought a new Edelbrock Q'Jet from Summit, worked great

Keep the carb, much easier to work on.

Thanks for the link! And lol if I had the money for a new carb I'd be happy. I'll try rebuilding this one and go from there.

Pretty much. And it was a four cylinder so that made it even more fun. And that was the hardest part. I'm gonna get a new air filter and try to mess with the idle mixture screws and see if that will help me a little at least for now

I was having idle issues with both my xr350 & xr600 so I removed the idle mixture screws on both, shot some brake cleaner in the hole and blasted each with a shot of air. Then replaced the screws, bottomed 'em lightly then backed 'em out 1 3/4 turns IIRC.Once running I played with the screws a little more and got both xrs idling pretty well.

Might be a little dirt in the orifice, just cleaning might help.
