U-joint

On my K5 blazer, Rear shaft rear joint. It has the internal clips (Don't know if thats what they are called, but has the clips on the inside) .. I knocked the old joint out, And the new one in, with no hammer... Just pushed them out with my hands..

Thats not normal, Has anyone ever seen that before. The old joint pushed right out, and the new joint pushed right in.

I'm guessing i need to have a new shaft built, or atleast a new yoke put on the shaft?

Truck will have a healthy smallish block and pure mud race/dirt race time.

Agreed that's not normal.Every U-joint I've replaced needed a big vice or a press to get it out.I wonder if someone replaced it and got the wrong part and instead of getting the right one just installed it anyway.

U-joints normally need to be pressed in.

I don't know..Both the old new i took out and the new one did the same.

I don't know..Both the old new i took out and the new one did the same.

Still doesn't sound right.Got a micrometer?I wonder if the round loops(can't think of a better name) where the cups go might be a little worn.

I'll check on ALLDATA for my burb and see what it says.

Should be a much tighter fit than "press in by hand".

I'd want that looked at.

Check for another u joint size. Often there is more than one listing. Best to mic everything to find the match. Even different brands can vary in their sizing. The ears could now be worn from the previous joint

The wrong size U-joint should have made the vehicle vibrate like a m/fer at a certain speed.

Check for signs of wear in that yoke. If it shiny, the u joint caps have been spinning and it is toast.
