I was driving and fiddling around looking for the fog light switch and I might have changed a setting or it was a coincidence but now when i get out and lock the doors the interior lights only stay on a couple seconds , how do i fix this?

Owners manual should say, but telling us the year, make and model might help 
I thought all GMs have been doing that with no option to change it since the mid 90s. Every GM I've had going back to a 96 S10 did this, only way I know of is to hit the dome override but then it won't come on with the doors at all. They also fade instantly if it's in gear.
