I will hopefully be taking possession of a new home in the next 5-6 weeks and I am looking at buying a small/medium-ish 4-wheel-drive tractor with a bucket and PTO for snow removal and other work like garden tilling, moving boulders, etc. around the 3 acres.

The house sits atop a hill with a long, winding and relatively steep driveway extending up from the creek and bridge below. While we don't get a ton of snow here, removing it from the drive will be a priority as I want my wife's drive in and out to be as simple and safe as possible. I also hate tilling my garden with a hand tiller. :)

Anyway, I'm just looking for thoughts/advice on brands, sizes, costs, etc. I'd likely buy used since this won't be getting used too awful much though.

Right now, Kubota is what I'm thinking.

The deck and patio: There's a fountain/river thing with a coy pond as well.

Good choice. I work at a Kubota dealership, so I might be biased though.

Nice looking place BTW, I'm jealous. I see you've already got a mower there too, Dave.

Haha! Mower isn't mine, although it might be by the time all is said and done. Any thoughts on which Kubotas would be a good candidate? 5 years old or less.

We have two John deere utility tractors at work, both are great machines and we use them for what you are wanting and more. I can't remember the model numbers right now, but I can get them for you Monday if your interested. You can't go wrong with a Kubota though either. If you stick with deere or Kubota you will be very happy.

Place looks great, T!

Heard nothing but great things about the Kubota. Very popular up here in the 4x4 model.

I have built the Kubota diesels over the years in generator and refrigeration applications, and they are rock solid. 30K hours is nothing to sneeze at.

Good luck

This is one we have: 1025R Sub-Compact Utility Tractor Sub-Compact Utility Tractors Tractors JohnDeere.com

It's good for smaller things, but lacks the power to move really really heavy things. It is a great tractor though and probably would work well for what you need at your house. It easily moves buckets of mulch and stone. Another plus, is that it isn't as heavy as a bigger tractor, so it won't rut up your yard as bad. We also have a snow blade, tiller, and mower deck for it as well as the bucket. All work well and the mower mows great.
