Ford SVT Raptor, or Dodge Ram Power Wagon?

I'm going to have to completely disagree with you on that one.

You're right....I should have stated, "any 4x4 fullsize truck"

You think the Raptor is the only full size truck than can drive over a mound of sand?

The truck is being marketed as a truck that can drive over/on sand....just look at all of the press photos ----> CLICK!

You take any 4x4 full size, throw on some BFGs and I bet it will have no problem keeping up with a Raptor. If I'm wrong, so be it.....but I think people would be surprised at how well a 'stock' full size could keep up with a Raptor. It may not be able to do it as easily or gracefully as the Raptor...but it would be able to do it.

-----------------------

Also, to the OP, bear in mind that the Raptor can only tow 6000 pounds. Not sure if this is an issue for you....but it's good info.

Actually, 6000 lbs is impressive considering what the suspension is set up for.

I am betting if it had a Bowtie on the grill, your opinion would be much different. :p

I'd probably dislike it even more. Companies on the verge of bankruptcy (or that have just gone through C11) do not need to be building low volume, gimmicky, halo vehicles that will do nothing for their bottom line (Raptor, Volt, etc).

But, the powertrain would sure be better...

---------------------

Also, to the OP:

Payload for the Raptor is around 1K pounds:

Capture-3.jpg

The listed payload for the Raptor is 1,020 lbs, but that's only if the actual truck sticks close to Ford's claimed 5,863-pound curb weight. This Raptor weighed 5,957 pounds on our scales. When we subtract that from the Raptor's 6,950-pound GVWR, we're left with an actual as-equipped payload of 993 pounds for this particular truck.

But this 993 pounds must be further-reduced by the weight of the driver, passengers and any junk in the cab. Yep, you and your buddies are payload. With two 200-pounders aboard, for example, only 593 pounds remain for cargo in the bed (such as a pair of dirtbikes) or for trailer tongue weight (just barely adequate for a 6,000 lb trailer). That's an "or" folks because trailer tongue weight is considered payload. Don't expect to tow much of anything with stuff in the bed, or vice-versa.

ok.. so go buy a full size silvy.. get a long arm long travel suspension kit.. and badda bing. same shit. WAAAYYY LESS money.

Yeah and kiss your warranty good-bye.

People that use the Raptor for it's intended purpose (no.....not showing off on a cruise night...) are not worried about a warranty.

And I bet that buried somewhere in Ford's warranty documentation is a stipulation that if you use the Raptor similar to how it was used in the press shots, the warranty will be void.

Yeah, it could do it, and then it would break, and you'd be stuck.

If guys are having ball joints fail prematurely just driving on the road, you really think you could drive through the desert at 80mph with no problems? Sand gets pretty hard at those speeds.

Go to 1:21. You think your truck could do that?

Seriously dude. Wake the hell up, and give them some credit when it's due.

It's all just opinion when written in here. Whenever you guys like, we can go buy one of each and head for Arizona!

To me, that "jump" didn't look too impressive. Like I said, the Raptor may be able to do it more gracefully, but I think 2010 Silverado/Sierra/Ram/Tundra/F-150 wouldn't break anything while doing it...but, I could be wrong....
I'm sorry (well...no I'm not), but I just don't find this truck impressive in the least.
I guess I'm missing "it". :dunno:

Personally, I would MUCH rather have a Lightning.

And of course my truck could handle it...
