I was wondering about a installing a set of shorty headers on my 04 Silverado 5.3. I found a set of new pacesetter headers and was curious if the bolts will come out of stock exhaust manifolds or are the bolts prone to breaking or twisting off?

Exhaust bolts are notorious for snapping on just about anything that has had a bunch of heat cycles. Even so, I haven't heard a lot of complaints on the GM V8s. The biggest complaint I hear from people who install shorty headers is that they don't do anything but look cool. Very little (if any) gains in power due to the fact that the factory manifolds flow just as well as the shorty headers.

If possible, go with long tubes. Long tubes are where the performance is. Shortys ain't bad when it comes to sound and mpg if your the one person in history to keep a light foot after install.

+1 to both.
The bolts are prone to snapping. Put a generous supply of PB Blaster, etc. Go slow in removing.

The cast exhaust manifolds flow pretty well.
