2012 was a crazy year! We went from 3 trucks to 1.
We had the 05 Chevy Blue Crew Cab 4X4, 1999 Chevy 3500HD 6.5 Turbo Diesel Dump, and the 1998 GMC Topkick 6500 with the V8 6.0 gas engine.
We switched out the Blue truck for the new dump truck at the end of April, we had a hefty fuel bill that month. Running only the new truck during the month of may our fuel bill was less by $1300. This is only a comparison from the fuel bill in April and May of which May was a busier month.
I am pretty happy about that. Sometimes I find myself spending time studying and calulating situation to see what we are up against. This was not one of those times. But the facts are facts. Two of our trucks had almost and over 200k miles. They were killing me on fuel, the other diesel truck would only go about 130 miles and was getting about 6 mpgs. The Kodiak was lucky to get 5 and the blue truck would get 6-7... Don't get me wrong they were all great trucks and got me to the next step.
After 18k miles I just took the Duramax/Dumper into the dealer for a programming for a recall that somehow was related to possible freezing of the Urea. I hadn't had the time to get it in during the cold months but had no issues at all. Just thought I would at least get it done before things really got slammed again.
