Those people got hit by pieces of a fWONking CAR! :willy:

I'm not sure it's worth $5million but a little compensation seems to be in order. :dunno:

Moreso than that guy who's suing his parents for not loving him enough.

Wait, what!? You think the fans should sue because the car was just trying to get closer to them and love on them some!? :wtf:

You can argue about the amount of $$$, but on the scale of reasonable <--> lawsuits, it tips towards the reasonable.

Huh? :dunce:

Do me a favor. Go find out how many people attend all NASCAR events in a single season and then post the percentage of those people who ended up hurt from debris lost during accidents.

That same percentage is just how much I agree with you that these people are owed anything. Life is risky. Life right up next to a track where cars are doing 200+ MPH in tight packs is even more risky.

There was nothing negligent here, it was just an accident that occurred during the normal activity that those people knew they were coming to see. It's not like the light standard fell on them or the walkway gave out from under them on their way to get a beer. A car wrecked horribly during a race where people cheer horrible wrecks.

If NASCAR wants to work out a deal to pay for hospital bills or lost ages, fine. For lawyers, and even those involved, to get rich off of this situation; that's bullshit.

Doesn't NASCAR have some sort of liability insurance for such an instance? You don't sign a waiver when you attend and I do not think the ticket says this is a waiver.

Not that people deserve a metric shit ton of fundages but they should at least pay for medical bills.

Matt :

The disclaimer on a Daytona ticket says: "The holder of this ticket expressly assumes all risk incident to the event, whether occurring prior to, during or subsequent to the actual event, and agrees that all participants, sanctioning bodies, and all employees, agents, officers, and directors of Daytona International Speedway, its affiliates and subsidiaries, are hereby released from any and all claims arising from the event, including claims of negligence."

Yeah... Heck, just because the disclaimer is there doesn't mean people can't still sue. Knowing how most big corporations are, they'd usually rather settle than go to court, risking bad press and a potentially much bigger pay-out..

Yeah you would think nobody in their right mind would sell that much booze to a bunch or hillbillies and NOT have a printed disclaimer.

Disclaimer on the back is why these law suites are retarded.

These people need to realize when you sit 50 feet away from a fence with 43 race cars doing 200mph that there is a change of being hurt..... life is risky... people die in bathtubs from slipping and bustin their noggin.

These moron's need to bring themselves back to reality.. life isn't fair and they need to just be thankful they are still breathing.

You forgot about the emotional stress and mental turmoil that has been caused.
