Just so I can make my Windows 8 experience worse, I was thinking of going forward with the update. Anybody with an older, pre-touchscreen laptop done this yet? Did you computer implode? Does it hate the Magic Shell app?
Michael has 8.1 on some of his computers... but he is working and won't see this post till he gets home...
I upgraded my desktop to 8.1 when it was released, figured it's free and supposed to be better. I like it more mainly because there's a built in setting to make it boot to the desktop. If it runs 8 it should run 8.1 just fine. I don't even know what the Magic shell app is. Michael is working?
8.1 should not cause any issues. On non-touchscreen applications, it is supposedly much better. That said... I have reverted back to 64 bit Win7 and plan on staying there.
My sister had 8 and when I did the update to 8.1 a lot of programs and drivers had to be reinstalled. Other than that I thought it was improved over 8 but I'd still rather keep my Windows 7.
