After getting into a situation where a winch was needed the other day, iv been thinking of what I want to get. I used a hitch winch the other day and it got the job done. Idk if I want to rig one up in the front or get one for the back. What yall think? Pros and cons..

Bumper mount (front) for off-road
I have winched out of nasty shit more times than I can count, I like going forward when possible and steering. I usually had buddies pull me backward or they would anchor and winch me backward if I couldn't go forward.

The rules of buying a winch are simple; buy twice as much as you need

I have wasted enough money for the both of us on that mistake.

Those Nissans weigh what...6000 pounds? Get at least a 12K, or 15K.

I had a 9K on my rock Jeep, and I could dangle that thing off cliffs :D2

I need to find pictures, and scan them. Yes, it was that long ago :GASP:

At LEAST double the winch you need... You may need to tie the back of your vehicle to a tree and pull something heavier out, lol.

I need to save up and build mounts for a 20k, if I can find one, for my truck, lol.

If it was me, I think I would try to find a front receiver hitch (I'm not sure what's available for a Titan) and then set up a receiver mounted winch that you can move front to rear. You can wire it so you have a plug at both ends and you can move the winch to best fit your recovery situation.

There are a couple things to consider with that, though. A 10-12k winch mounted in a receiver tray is HEAVY. It's not something you want to be lugging around all the time. Also, with a receiver mount, you can bend them if you pull at an offset angle. You will need to be careful about pulling relatively straight forward or backward.

Just my $.02

^^ That seems a better route, especially considering the extra weight they.
