Weekend Maintenance Projects!

Simple request from you guys and gals. If anybody is doing any maintenance to there vehicle this weekend take some pics for a write up. Anything from oil change to engine overhaul. If you twist a wrench this weekend please try to snap a couple of pictures. If you don't want to do a write up yourself then PM me and I will give you my email address and I'll do the write up for you.

Yeah, I need to get outside and try to get some tarnish from the Colorado mud off of my side-steps.. (Has anyone dealt with that before? Mud leaving some type of weird tarnish-type marks on chrome?)

I'm in the same boat as Scott, though.. "if it ever stops raining."

I've had pretty good luck using Brasso on my steps before. Some of the minerals in that mud probably caused the spots I assume.

I guess so! Old mountain roads, made out of no telling what kind of ores... I guess something was in the dirt & mud that the steps didn't like...

Is it a kind of tan/yellow tarnish?
If so...use some GOOD chrome cleaner/polish like Meguires/Mothers.. etc.

If that don't get it ALL off and make it look perfect...use a mild solvent to remove the chrome cleaner in the area that didn't clean up.

Then try taking some aluminum foil... crumple a piece up with the SHINY SIDE out and rub the spots fairly gently but firmly.

Then reapply the chrome polish.
Then "WAX" the chrome to prevent it happening abain.

Brasso is a good cleaner also.

I need to get some for the 4 chrome exhaust tips on the Caddy.
