Hey Jim, what do you know about Marantz?

We have a Marantz receiver that my Dad bought in the mid '70s from a guy that sold stereo equipment and cigars in the lobby of an office building. He said he paid about $600, and it usually retailed for about $1000.

My dad's the same way he loves that shit. Such nostalgia for the 70's and 80's.

Marantz is my favorite old brand! Some are worth good money and some are not. Just depends on the model. 2200 series stuff 2250, 2265, 2275 were the midline models. 2285B and 2300 series models are highly sought after these days. 2215, 2235 est are lower models and worth less. I sold my last 2385B for 1100 bucks and it needed relamping. That's when I bought all of my Adcoms.

Know what the model number is?

NO! :D

Not because it isn't cool... I just don't have room. Emily has me on a strict "buy only small shit" mission right now. I need a bigger house. I am gonna find you a smoking deal though... just wait.

Do you have any reel-to-reels? I loved the way they looked. We had an Akai when I was young, it was awesome. It's so odd to think you can store just as much on something not much bigger than a stamp these days!

Also, the only older equipment I have is my early 80's Technics SL-M3 turn table. We bought it over in Okinawa. I wish I had pictures of the setup my old man used to have.

This is what it looks like.

It's a 2270, as evidenced by a visual aid.

We (I) also have a Dual turntable that I rescued from my Uncle's garage.
