anyone ever had a stick shift snap on you? like the entire upper half just falls off?
This happened to me today on the jeep I'm borrowing and I need to find a way to fix it. It's not entirely clear in the pics but the part the broke off wasn't even the threaded area. from all I can tell is there used to be something to thread into (it was gone when I started borrowing it) and now not only is that part gone but this was such a clean break that the part it could fit into is filled with the rest of the shifter!!!
any suggestions?:ohnoes:

here's da pics

Looks like you need to buy an easy-out and lots of penetrating oil. If you can get the broken off piece out, there may be enough threads left to get the shifter to thread back in. Otherwise, I guess you will have to hit up a wrecking yard and try to find the shifter and linkage.

Looks like it wasn't seated all the way and the flexing at the threads eventually let it snap. Luck you!
