Hey Ya'll I haven't been on in some time. Been going through and STILL going through some bad times in my life.

I had a unique problem Friday I THOUGHT was all to familiar but, strangely wasn't. I was on the way to work going around a slight curved on ramp. When the front end started shaking violently. I pulled over immediately.

Then decided it was unsafe so I pulled back on to the ramp went and pulled over on the shoulder of the highway. Saw no noticeable problems so since this was my first week at the new job I decided to proceed with caution. I got back up to 45-50 ish and then flow of traffic and drove to work no problems.

After work even up to about 60 ish nothing.

At home I jacked the front end up shook the tires, spun the tires nothing odd. I took the tires off looked at the brakes and rotors glanced at the tires nothing seemed odd.

I greased all zircs (inner/outer tie rod, upper/lower ball joints.) figured why not.

I have replaced all inner/outer tie rod ends, and upper/lower ball joints with Moog within the past few years. Put in Moog pitman and idler arms several years back and a new steering box about a year ago. Had it aligned 2 years back. I have used humvee tires with balancing beads.

I have a lifted truck with the cepek/extreme suspension lift The closest to this problem in the past was a drop arm broke. They are all re welded and still in tact.

I would say a year ish ago I put new bosh rotors and Thermoquiet pads.

I don't want to shrug my shoulders and say , "Oh well" BUT, I'm miffed. If it repeated itself or I could see something odd after lifting the front end up maybe I would have a clue.

I don't think the beads would clump up cause the problem and then un clump out of no where. I heard a brake grabbing MIGHT cause it too.

I have lifted '02 Silverado 1500 if that matters.

Scratchin' my head in frustration.

Thanks in advance

Jim

I'm not familiar with the balancing beads but that is what I would start with. Are they really worth it? I would drop them and go back with conventional balancing of the tires.

I don't have an answer but I would suggest getting it on stands and then having a buddy work the wheels back and forth as you look for worn bushings, joints, etc. I can't imagine those tires and beads are balanced all that great but if you've never had this issue before, they're probably not the issue.

2 years on an alignment on that truck is waaaaay too long. I bet that thing needs an alignment every six months.

Thanks for the input gents.

We'll just call it a tire issue. I backed out of the work parking lot turning right as I turned left pulling forward load pop and tire blew.

All under 2 mph so I'll be thankful for that. Just pissed/upset at myself or "whatever" for not seeing something wrong with tire and spending more time looking at other parts.

Pulled it in to parking lot hoping rim is not fwonked. Just more BS to add to my quagmire. :fume:
