Transmission annoyance!

My problem is that I can't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at high rpms...

Specifically, when over the 4000 or so RPM mark... Which means I can't do 0 - 60 runs, as 2nd tops out at just under 60 MPH, I can't do 1/4 mile races, and in general, is a major PITA when climing hills, too.

What might the issue be?

So far as I can tell, it's only the 2 to 3 shift that's the problem... 1st to 2nd has no issues... I don't believe there's a problem with a 3 - 4 shift... But it's been a long time since I've tried winding out 3rd gear...

If it's something major... I'll have to see what I can say to the dealership to have it fixed on extended warranty...

It's not really getting any worse... I don't think, anyway... But it definitely hasn't gotten any better

Kinda defeats the purpose of attempting to fix the problem

Though, I should see if it's high RPM from any gear that stops it from going into 3rd...

syncros man, try running a different fluid, maybe a good synthetic, or lighter weight.

It's the GM specific fluid for my transmission

It's been doing it since I bought it.... at 49xxx km... On factory fluid.

Lately it's had a couple random problems getting into 1st gear...

I don't think it's a fluid issue... I think something is either bent, because I discovered today, that I can go from 5000 RPM in 1st gear to 3rd with no issues...

It seems to be only when going from 2nd to 3rd, and 4th to 3rd... Gonna take a drive tonight where I can romp on it and do some testing.

So far syncros is all I can think of, as well.

Loose nut behind the wheel causing an issue perhaps?

i had a buddys manual trans appart on time, it was out of a geo tracker, all that kept the forks on the shafts was dinky little cotter pin, one had broke and we replaced it, maybe the same case they could be worn. was a prety easy fix in the geo, it only weighed about 80lbs.
