How much does towing affect your fuel economy. Pulling about 3000 pounds (boat, motor, trailer) mine drops from about 18.5 to 14 on the highway. It's not quite so much of a drop if I keep it under 65.

What about yours? Is this about the norm? :dunno:

I haven't pulled any real weight with my '06. I have a 10 foot trailer with a drop gate on it that I haul my Kawasaki mule with. My mileage drops from 20mpg Hwy to 17 Hwy when pulling it to Houston. Not much weight but it's like dragging a parachute behind me.

I never check mine. :dunno:

I'd guess around 10 city and 12-13 hwy though. Boat/trailer and gear is about 3500 lbs.

Pulling my 24' parachute drops mine to between 7 and 8 MPG. My guess is it weighs in somewhere around 3200 lbs - boat, motor and trailer.

When going to the desert to ride and camp the toy hauler fully loaded weighs in the neighborhood of 7,500lbs. I've never checked it but I believe it gets about 8mpg..not too bad when you consider the combined weigh of the hauler and the Burb loaded. There are a couple of steep hills on the way too so that doesn't help either.

I guess I should throw in the fact that Southern Indiana has a lot of hills so that also contributes to the poor mileage. The fact that I'm pulling a giant box around does the worst damage though, for sure.
