so i have pretty s****y luck when it comes to installing systems. i get them installed and they work fine for a few weeks, then they crap out on me. i've blew my first sub and fried my first amp. then my new sub and amp came and i installed them. (kicker CompVR 12 & Hifonics amp) then one day my amp just quits working. so i take it up to Best Buy and have the car install guy check everything; he said it's the amp. i then take the shell off and see nothing blown or fried. but the funny thing is it had power and lit up like it was on. a friend told me that if i have a cb hooked up AND a system hooked up, that could be problem. is this true?

that's what i was thinking, but apparently somethings not right. i've taken my cb out to eliminate that possibility. could it be my wiring has gone bad??

It sounds like you've got a grounding problem. In that you're getting current coming back up through the ground line which is causing issues with the electronics.

How is the power for the amp hooked up?

the power is coming straight from the battery. (EverStart Maxx) the ground is bolted to my seat bracket, but now that you mention that, i'm starting to think it's the ground.

What size fuse do you have on the line from the battery?

If it was a bad ground or a direct short it should have blown the fuse. Unless the amp draw for the amp was ALOT less then the fuse. What is the recommended fuse for the amp? the 1000 watt amp in my truck only requires a 50A fuse.

hmmm...that is weird. I would think the fuse would blow:dunno:
Not if the ground is any good. You're not making a circuit, so there is no current going to the amp.

Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Do you have a DMM or volt meter to verify power to the amp?
