I had a 70 TR6 that I put a 283 and power glide into. It promptly with in about ten miles after numerous hard accelerations blew the crap out the rear end and broke the driver side lever shock. Believe it or not the u-joints in the rear and half shafts held up well.

Guy I sold it to put a 9 inch in it and then tore up the half shafts and rear control arms....LOL!!!

My brother has a 69 TR6 with the factory hard top. I have been looking at projects and it just might be next purchase. I sold it to him almost 30 years ago and now it just sits taken apart. I can have it back for what I sold it to him for.....$500.00!!! We just talked about it few nites ago. Problem is I have no place for it but I just might buy it and keep it at his place for a year or two. Actually has the original 2.5 for it. All rebuilt but it needs new overdrive trans. The 2.5 was great engine, not powerful but reliable internals. the problem was what was bolted to it....LOL!!!

They are an awesome looking car. Funny I was thinking about a a Datsun 240-280 Z inline 6 engine, a Supra strait six or a Nissan VG-30 V-6. I have no idea how they might fit or what would be involved. The old Datsun I like and I could also use the trans with not much worry about the rear end. I had a 13B rotary in a 65 Spitfire....that was way to much fun.....just ask my insurance company....LOL!!! A local in Tucson has a 70 MGB GT with a Nissan SR20DET turbo in it. If I ever got one of those it would have to go rotary......!!! I have seen one on youtube with an LS engine, the late B's were set up from the factory for a V-8, the 215 Rover or Buick aluminum V-8. inner fenders were dimpled and parts were available from the factory to convert them. They were sold in limited qty's in England.
