Service 4WD MIL

I recently had a message run across my Drivers Information Center (DIC) it said " Service 4WD"? Anybody got any ideas here?

you can have it scanned to pin point the problem, other wise check out the connection on the encder/motor on the side of the t-case. it could have loosened, i have also seen the boot for the shaft rub a hole in the encoder, silly really but it happens. did you try uing the 4wd recently?

It's not throwing any codes, when I start the truck up the 4WD selector switch goes through a series of light flashes and then goes blank. It will not go into 4WD, I have checked connections and didn't see any bad wires or anything like that. It's just staying in 2HI, I guess if it was gonna stop working that would be the gear to be in at least.

it will not throw a CEL and you need a good scanner to read the module controlling the t-case. but most likley failed switch, but i`ve changed just as many switches as i have encoder/motors

i think a lot of people have had problems with there 4wd switches, but i would scan it to make sure
