Restoring my truck, one blemish at a time.

I have narcolepsy, fibromayalgia, spinal stenosis, and I chase a 3 year old every day. I am restoring and modding my truck, starting with the mechanical, but I am getting close to body work time. Because of my problems, I am lucky to snag an hour here or there to do some work. My first question is this, what spray can primer is best? Specifically, if i fix a rust spot, sand it and prime that spot, then 3 weeks later fix a hole in the door and use filler on an old trim hole on the bed, etc, and say it takes me a year to get all the physical cosmetics complete, what can primer would be good enough for the paint booth to then degrease and, if necessary, prime and paint the whole truck? I don't want to compromise my future paint job while I do the body work myself.

I'll just put it like this.
Any GOOD paint shop would rather do the body work themselves than to have you do it. They have no clue about your body work skills, or if you used cheap materials and primer or what not. They won't warranty the paint job if they are painting over your body work and primer. See what I'm getting at here?
Now if you are going to a shop that doesn't care, they just wheel it in and spray it, then by all means go ahead and proceed with your body work and paint prep. But if you are going to a good shop and paying $3000 for a paint job, then go talk to them first before you start doing body work. At least they can tell you what to use if they are gonna paint over your body work.
