Since this is a forum of all truck makes/ models, I wanted to see what common repairs are made to each. I am familiar on the common problems GM has, but am curious on the other makes. Give a run down of the vehicle, engine type, 2wd, 4x4, etc.

Also, try to include the current mileage, the mileage and or year the repairs were done.

Nice thread!

Won't start with the '79 Ford I rebuilt. I only paid $800 for it and rebuilt so that repair list would be endless...Not going to include my wife's vehicles either...She had some real POS's..worst was a Dodge Neon.

All 4WD -

'95 4Runner (Bought in '99) - ~200K on the clock when I sold it.
- 03 - Starter - Contact points wore out. Replaced for $5 bucks.
- 01 - CV boots wore out. Lift didn't help...Never did replace them...
Honest to god, the only ever thing I did to that vehicle was general mtc, batteries, belts, plugs and brakes. Never did change the timing belt..

'00 Tundra (Bought in '04)- ~120K on the clock when I sold it.
- 04 - Seatbelts wouldn't retract - Replaced under warranty
- 04 - Water leak at fresh air intake- Fixed by dealer for free
- 05 - Exhaust Manifolds - Fixed by dealer for free
- 06 - CV boots again - Lift didn't help - Never replaced them either.
- 08 - TPS sensor went bad. Like a $150 bucks and about 10 minutes to change.
That was it, again changed batteries and brake pads. Never changed the timing belt on this one either. I like to play with fire.

'08 Tundra (Bought in '08) - ~18K miles so far
- 08 - Nothing. Even the tailgate is still in one piece after loading a big bear in there a few times...:D

And that's why I buy Toyota's...in 10 years of ownership they've cost me less than $200 bucks in repairs. Would have been a lot more, but my dealership rocks and was able to get my '00 issues fixed without costing me a penny.

Just my trucks...

89 GMC Sierra, bought with 20K on it in 1990, sold in 1999 with 145K on it:

Nothing other than brakes and tires and battery. Friend who I sold it to did have to put head gaskets in it (350 V8) at about 175K miles iirc.
I did have the ball joints replaced, but GM had extended the warrnty on these, so they were covered.

2000 GMC Sierra Z71 5.3. Bought new in fall of 99. Sold in 2007 to my brother with 92K miles on it. He still drives it today.

'00 Int. Steering shaft replaced under warranty
'00 Rear ext cab windows replaced due to excessive wind noise, warranty.
'00 Throttle body replaced due to "sticky" spot. Warranty

2007 GMC Sierra (see sig)

'07 CPS O-ring oil leak, warranty
'08 HVAC aspirator fan (in headliner) noisy, replaced under warranty.
'08 Alt and A/C comp replaced due to extreme cold squealing. Warranty.

That's it.....so, since 1990, other than routine maint., my trucks have cost me nothing. THAT is why I drive GM trucks.

Oh I don't know...:rollin:

Keep 'em coming though. This is quickly becoming my favorite board. Hanging out on a board where everybody drives the same thing gets boring real fast. Need someone to keep you on your toes.
