So I was working around in the garage today with the radio playing in the truck and after about 45 minutes or so the I went to crank her up to charge up the battery and the truck wouldn't turn over all the way so I jumped her and now I can't get the radio to turn back on (the headunit). I checked all the fuses that are related to the radio in the owner's manual and none of them were blown. So you guys got any ideas? I can't stand riding around w/o any music

Is this a factory radio or aftermarket radio?

Its kinda weird but I drive a F650 dump truck for work... The radio started going down hill in it.. I would be listening to it and the volume would escalate on its own.. I got so mad at it I punched it a couple times.. No more workee.. I am still looking for a replacement.

It's aftermarket (Kenwood DDX512). It's the one I sold him last week.

This thing is less than a year old and in immaculate condition, so I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with the unit itself. Unless, of course, jumping the truck did something to it. I recommended to him via PM to try disconnecting the negative terminal to see if that would reset anything. If not that, there is a fuse on the back of the unit itself that may have blown.

I thought maybe one of you guys had this happen before? :dunno:

I'd say the same thing, to pull out the radio and check the fuse in the back of it. If it is good, then test the power wire at the radio itself to see if its getting power or not.

    Jeff,

FYI here are two pictures that may help. The rear shot gives you an idea of where the fuse is (next to harness). If you look at the front shot there is a small recessed button underneath the volume knob. If I recall correctly, most Kenwood units have a reset button, and I think that's it for this unit. Try pressing it with a pen tip.

Just got your PM. I'm so glad to hear that.

It was likely a voltage spike when you jumped it.
